The cast of High School Musical weren’t the only winners at the Us Weekly Bash that night. A host of other hot celebs also took home awards including The City’s Whitney Port for Breakout of the Year, Project Runway’s Heidi Klum for Style Icon of the Year, Lauren Conrad for Celebrity Designer of the Year, and the CW’s Gossip for Cast of the Year.

New York Style members were invited to shopping heaven to Celebrate Anne Klein, one of New York City ’s top designers. The Celebration of 40 Years of Fashion had a fashion show with the gorgeous Anne Klein Collection. The Style Wisdom event presentation included expert styling advice from an Elle’s Fashion Merchandising editor and local style experts Laney Crowell, Fashion Content Director, StyleCaster.com and Francesca Mills, Celebrity Fashion Stylist. Throughout the event they shared their Style Wisdom and gave you fashion tips on how you can incorporate AK Anne Klein into your personal wardrobe.

By now it may be fairly obvious, but bland tones and “safe” colors aren’t making the cut. From celebrities to New York City’s socialites, brights are definitely the way to go. With new neon-retro 80’s colors streamlining through everyone’s collections from Diane von Furstenberg to Rachel Pally and Christian Louboutin, designers are creating flashy but fabulous attire to suit the inner pink lover in everyone. Wearing them out at first might be a little tough since we’re all so used to our black-on-black routine…but you can ease in with Essie nail color in Short Shorts or even with Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch..then you can move on to some fabulous Louboutins.

Fun Finds

For most of us, $3000 handbags are dreams..not realities. As a young, fabulous, and broke shopper myself, I’ve found little ways to keep up with ever-changing New York City trends without breaking the bank (too much) especially in this oh-so-questionable market! Here are some great discoveries I’ve made recently. Be sure to check in for new secret swaps as I try to keep us all fashionably up-to-date and with extra cash in our pockets.

Vanessa Scheffler, spokesmodel, looked gorgeous in a Walter Baker sequined black dress and she awarded two autographed Lipstick Jungle books to two lucky guests!

Cota is called one of the “Ten Newcomers to Watch” for 2008 by Style.com based on his Spring collection.  His interestingly shaped and coloredpieces are innovative and combine a New York spirit with sophistication.  Be sure to keep an eye out for this hot up-and-coming designer!

New York Girl Style’s own Levin Rambin made a stylish entrance in a jacket and blouse by Jenni Kayne over a LNA tank.  On bottom was a Tibi skirt and mixing luxury with affordability were Steve Madden shoes.   The sparkling necklace was Lulu Frost and the clutch was LAI.  She looked impeccable in the put together ensemble and was dressed perfectly for the evening.

Katrina Bowden sparkled in a Walter Baker cocktail dress that was perfect for spring because of the bright yellow color. She complimented it perfectly with strappy black pumps and a simple black clutch. Her makeup was simple but dramatic and completed the look effortlessly.

Italian designer Roberto Cavalli was featured as a designer spotlight, along with his modern and luxurious clothing line. Inspiration for the spring was in the air with the beautiful pastel colors and gorgeous draping of Roberto Cavalli.

Robin Jordan, designer, and Vanessa Scheffler, model, stand admist the shopping activity. In back the British Airways video of the premier launch of the British Airways Heathrow Terminal 5 luxury designer retailers can be seen.
