The Nonoo Lyons line was born from friends Deborah Lyons and Misha Nonoo.  Their spring/summer 2010 collection (NL’s second collection) was shot on location at Coney Island and has a very retro “pin-up” 1940’s and 50’s calendar girl feel. Each look is featured as a different month. The collection includes 12 impeccably tailored jackets fashioned from rubber coated tweed, leopard print taffetas and bright white cotton faille. They were inspired to create a jackets-only line because they both agreed that the perfect jacket can complete any outfit!  Their jackets have become a must-have during these early spring, pre-summer months.  This collection was founded on principles of effortless grace, flawless craftsmanship and the finest European fabrics. Deborah and Misha are very stylish and skilled in the fashion world.  They really know how to inspire beauty.  Just try on one of their jackets and you’ll feel beautiful too! Celebrities were out on Thursday night for the New York Girl Style launch of Project City Girl at the Gansevoort Hotel. The event was to announce the Project City Girl winner, Ekaterina Klenova, Boss Models. The Project City Girl Spring Photo Shoot will shoot on location in New York City and be published to the New York Girl Style fashion website.  The event was hosted by our Celebrity Stylist Lindsey Crawford and the sponsors of the event were VH1, the Gansevoort Hotel, and Cutler Salon. Rodney Cutler, owner of Cutler Salon attended the event with some of his celebrity friends and posed for photos with Ekaterina and Lindsey.  Lindsey Crawford styled Ekaterina in a gorgeous black mini dress by Rolando Santana.  Rodney Cutler’s styling team that styles runway shows during New York Fashion Week was also on board to give Ekaterina styling tips.  Ekaterina looked amazing in the black mini dress and Lindsey was wearing a beautiful silver sequined mini dress.  The rooftop of the Gansevoort was a perfect space for this event.  Guests could see a breathtaking view of the city while they sipped on delicious cocktails and mingled with models, celebrities, and press.  As far as the New York scene, the event was a big hit.

Last Tuesday Feb. 16th during NY Fashion Week Shows New York Girl Style was invited to participate in the QVC Shop the Runway Show. Our celebrity stylist, Lindsey Crawford tweeted for shoppers the looks that sold on the QVC Show and QVC Online Shopping site. The event was flawless and the crowd enjoyed a show featuring designs from Rachel Zoe, Isaac Mizrahi, and more. Lindsey Crawford loved the Rachel Zoe V-neck Vest with Faux Fur that Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford was rocking. She looked amazing as she posed for many photos with Chase Crawford, another Gossip Girl actor. Even the Real Housewives of NYC star Kelly Bensimon was there. Everyone was having a great time viewing the shopping event and snagging special deals on the designer collections. Lindsey was providing styling tips to girls in the audience on what’s hot for the season. The fans of New York Girl Style had a special treat with live coverage of the shopping event from Bryant Park—the heart of NY Fashion Week. New York Girl Style had their new website launch party at Greenhouse on Thursday February 4th, from 8pm-11pm.  The event was a star-studded affair, and with the hot beats of DJ Jamieson Hill, everybody rocked the night away.  The sponsors of this event were G-Star Raw, Tokion Magazine, Cutler Salon, and Alma Tequila.  There was even a G-Star spotlight where models Bell and Ekaterina (pictured below) wore some of the looks from G-Star’s Spring 2010 line.  The looks included denim skirt and vests.  One of our favorites was the uber-cool short mini lime skirt.  Everyone had an amazing time and Greenhouse was the perfect space for the event.  One of the key features of the new website is Street Style, that has global focus on fashion around the world. Last week at NYFW, QVC presented Rachel Zoe and Isaac Mizrahi on a live broadcast in the tents. Rachel Zoe showed her patent trenches, which are great for any season and occasion, faux fur vests that are easily paired with any outfit and vintage style drop earrings and necklaces that are the missing piece to any look. Isaac’s lace overlay dress is just too cute and affordable, the structured leather handbag is perfect for day or night and the teardrop bib necklace can be thrown on over any casual look to carry it that extra mile. Cynthia Steffe’s impressive Spring 2010 collection was the charmed third effort for the designer. After two previous collections, Steffe has finally found the difficult balance of femininity and structure. Ruffled dresses made many appearances, but they were skillfully paired with belts, vests, and shoes that gave the look that added sense of cool. The pinks, grays, and other earth tones kept the collection from looking too over-the-top in its girlishness. Steffe’s Spring collection represents the current fashion trends with its eclectic style and accessible sensibility. It is a collection for the modern, hip, but unfussy woman.

Downtown rocker-ballerinas rejoice! Charlotte Ronson’s Spring 2010 collection was created with you in mind. The fun and girly line still kept a bit of Ronson’s tougher edge for a collection that’s modern and relevant. With their ballet-inspired buns, the models showcased looks from matchstick pants paired with flannel to pink dresses with bows. Ronson clearly knows her audience: young women, who want to have fun with fashion, but still want to appear as though their calculated combination of soft and hard is completely effortless.

Jill Stuart is taking her audience on a fashion adventure – and it’s not for the faint of heart. Her Spring 2010 collection is meant to show off a woman’s body with its daringly short, shoulder-baring dresses. The collection is bright and strong, and definitely not for anyone who wants to blend in with the crowd. From a colorful animal print one-shoulder dress to a sleeveless white studded dress, the one thing all the pieces have in common is strength. The only break from this in-you-face collection is the Greek-inspired white dress that offsets the tough, colorful aesthetic of the other dresses with its softness. Haute Hippie is a line with spirit.
