NYGirlStyle Spotlight Event

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

All of you who were present at our event on Thursday night already know how fabulous it was, but for those of you who couldn’t make it out, here’s a recap of the event. I’m also including my interview with THE Steven Dillon, celebrity hair stylist (his client list includes Calvin Klein beauty Natalia Vodianova) and general tress trend know-it-all.

We held the event at Nikki Beach Midtown, and featured free makeovers from two of the industry’s greatest artists. They somehow made all of our gorgeous guests even more beautiful, tailoring the makeup to fit each girl’s individual look and offering coveted tips and special giveaways. Guests waiting to have their makeup done lounged on Nikki Beach’s plush couches and sipped complimentary mojitos. Many also chatted (or danced) with Steven Dillon and our top models.

Near the end of the evening I was finally able to steal Steven away to hold a quick interview. Read closely! He offered me some special inside tips for Fall…

NYGirlStyle: So here I am with the man of the hour! What did you think of tonight’s event?
Steven Dillon: It was fantastic! I really think everything was such a hit-the makeup, the products, Nikki Beach, everything.
NY: Well, we’re so happy you joined us. Can you give us a little insight on what hair looks like for Fall?
SD: Of course. This season it’s all about edge. We’re going to be seeing a lot of graphic bobs, with a sort of Japanimation or Egyptian look. Hair is going to be long, straight, and frizzy-lots and lots of texture.
NY: Ooh, sounds futuristic.
SD: Exactly. It’s all about that hot futuristic severity.
NY: What kind of products should women use to achieve this look?
SD: Try Kiehl’s Creative Cream, which is a fantastic styling wax; as well as Gil Ferrer’s Coolstick, another great wax.
NY: This whole straight, textured style sounds like it would look great, but it also sounds pretty moisture-stripping. Is there a way to counteract any damage that my hair might suffer?
SD: I’m so glad you asked. A lot of women tend to stick to safer hair styles because they are afraid of doing a lot of damage. However, there are a ton of products on the market now that will protect and revitalize your hair, no matter what you do to it. The best ones I’ve found are made by Pierre Michel, and are part of his RepHair line.
NY: What makes them so great?
SD: They all have AC-11 in them, which is a natural DNA repair compound. (check it out here)
NY: Thank you so much for the tips Steven! Tell us, what is your style goal for the average woman?
SD: Well, I believe in individuality for every woman. My favorite thing is to take a New York girl and make her feel the best she can!

All in all, the event was a complete success! Thank you to everyone who came out to help us ring in the Fall fashion season, and thank you to all of our wonderful sponsors!
