The collection had a certain innocent sexiness about it. There were pompoms tied around the models chignons, and some of the dresses were sheer enough to see black garters. There was lots of sparkle-covered coats and jackets, and lots of bright tights or bottoms paired with black tops. The evening-wear looks had lots of ivory tops, and black skirts. The designer, Zac Posen, opted for a more fun and trendy look rather than his usual classical audience.

The designer’s collection was stronger and sexier than they have previously been. The designers explained that the fall collection was an evolution of the Spring’s boudoir-inspired show.

The show was made sexy by elements of underwear used as outerwear. For instance, the corset that cinches a sweater dress, some taffeta peeking out, a barely visible garter under a trench coat. However, the collection was kept classy by the heavy fabrics and muted hues. There was also a lot of emphasis on the waist, hence the corset, making the collection very lady-like.

New York Girl Style at Nicole Miller New York Fashion Week

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Nicole Miller presented her Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear collection on Friday, February 1st, at 6 in the Salon and New York Girl Style was there to cover it. Celebrity clients Natasha Henstridge, Cheryl Hines, and Melissa George sat in the front row, taking it all in. The collection was inspired by Joan-Of-Arc and the casual wear had a definite warrior and tough feel about it. It was a little bit edgier than Miller usually prefers to go and was a pleasant change.

However, the evening wear was clean and classy and girly as it always is. This type of collection has served popular in the past, and Miller, leading designer, was smart to not mess with success. It was elegant and feminine, but still kept some of the victorian feel, like the party dress above.
